Safety

FAST (STOP)
Immediately stop shooting
Come down
Remove arrow from bow
Return arrow to quiver

BOWS
Never point a bow at anyone, whether it is loaded or not
Only draw a bow on the shooting line
Always point a bow in the direction of the target
Never dry loose a bow i.e. draw and release the string without an arrow attached

ARROWS
Only shoot arrows at the target
Never shoot vertically into the air
Always ensure that your arrows are long enough

SHOOTING LINE
Only ever shoot from astride the shooting line, never from in front or behind i
Never go in front of the shooting line for any reason until the signal is given that it is safe to do so.

WAITING LINE
Always return behind the waiting line once you have shot your arrows

COLLECTING
Always wait for the signal to proceed forward to collect arrows

ARROWS
Always walk to the side of your target. Never run
Keep watch for any arrows that have fallen short of the target

WITHDRAWING
Always ensure that there is nobody behind you as you withdraw arrows from the target

ARROWS
Always withdraw the arrows nearest to you first
Carry arrows safely back to the waiting line for sorting

SCORING
Always call scores in groups of three from the highest downwards, e.g. 10, 9, 8 (pause) 7, 6, 5

REFERENCE
Always draw the bowstring to the facial reference point and never beyond it. If you are not sure what or POINT where this is, ask.

RESPONSIBILITY
It is everybody’s responsibility to be familiar with when and how to call FAST (stop)
