Courses

The Club runs six-week courses for beginners and improvers. These courses are suitable for both Juniors and Seniors.


Beginners Course

This course offers those who are new to the sport of Target Archery the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the basics of the sport and to be able to shoot safely and confidently alongside existing Club members.

Week 1. Introduction to the Club, safety rules and warm up procedures.
Equipping with suitable kit.
Practice bare bow shooting at a bare target from approximately eight yards.

Week 2. Learn about the equipment being used.
Practice bare bow shooting at a bare target from approximately eight yards.

Week 3. Introduction to scoring.
Introduction to sighted shooting, using a pin.
Practice shooting and scoring from approximately ten yards.

Week 4. Practice shooting and scoring from approximately twelve yards.
Reinforce shooting methods, etiquette and safety.

Week 5. Practice shooting and scoring from approximately twelve yards.
Reinforce shooting methods, etiquette and safety.

Week 6. Practice shooting and scoring at full range length.
Assessment by Senior Instructor.
Discuss equipment requirements if wishing to join the Club.


GNAS Archery Leader Course

Although the Club does not run these courses itself. It arranges one course a year for the benefit of those who wish to be able to instruct others in archery.
